Azerbaijan can provide itself with gas at the expense of its own resources in a few years. The country has quite enough of its own gas resources, Yagub Eyyubov, First Vice-Premier of Azerbaijan's Government has said today, Trend reports.

At present, we are continuing to negotiate with the Russian party on buying its gas he said. However, we have not come to any conclusion yet. But we know the volume and the price that will be convenient to us, pointed out the Vice-Premier.

We have also held negotiations with Iran, but here we have not achieved any results either, he said.

Azerbaijan is preliminary ready to buy about 2 bln. cubic meters of gas per year from Iran. Until the end of 2006, SOCAR (State oil Company of Azerbaijan) is expected to buy some 4 bln. Cubic meters of gas at the price of $110 per 1.000 cubic meters from Russia's GazPromExport.
