The Court complicated punishment of editor-in-chief of the Nakhchivan Press newspaper, convicted of fraud.
On Aug.7, the Baku Court of Appeal considered the appeal of the Prosecutor General's Office over a sentence on Editor-in-chief Sevinj Gozalova, sentenced by the Azerbaijani Serious Crimes Court, Trend news said. The court increased Gozalova's term of punishment from 7 to 8 years.
The editor-in-chief was accused of Article 178.2.3 (for swindling by using office duties)
The Police Department of the Yasamal region arrested Gozalova in September, 2008. Gozalova cheated 34 people into giving her their money and gold. The Court sentenced Gozalova to 8 years in imprisonment.
