Azerbaijan pays a special attention to athletes with physical disabilities, Paralympic Association President Ilgar Rahimov said at a ceremony dedicated to the 15th anniversary of the Paralympic Movement of Azerbaijan.
"Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, as the president of the National Olympic Committee, realizes plans to improve the social status of Paralympians," Rahimov said.
Azerbaijan marked the Day of Sports on March 5.
At the ceremony, the athletes were presented with awards that President Aliyev awarded them.
President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree awarding Azerbaijani Paralympic sportsmen the Tereggi medal on Feb.17.
For their merits in the development of the Paralympic movement in Azerbaijan, Tereggi medal was awarded to: Abdullayev Zahir, Ibrahimov Ramin, Mammadov Tofig, Osman Rza, Sardarov Kerim, Zayets Vladimir.
