BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 12. The number of active taxpayers in Azerbaijan amounted to 1.5 million (87.3 percent were individuals and 12.7 percent were legal entities and organizations) as of September 1, 2023, Trend reports.
According to the data of the State Tax Service under the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan, the total number of taxpayers increased by 7.3 percent, including individuals (by seven percent) and legal entities (by 9.2 percent) compared to the same period last year.
A total of 171,165 commercial enterprises were registered in Azerbaijan from January through August 2023.
In general, 90.5 percent of state-registered commercial legal entities are limited liability companies, 1.3 percent are joint-stock companies, and 1.1 percent are cooperatives as of September 1, 2023.
The number of active VAT payers in state-registered commercial organizations amounted to 33,317 in the reporting period (an increase of 15.2 percent compared to the corresponding period last year).
Moreover, 1,458 commercial organizations (87.1 percent with local investments, 12.9 percent with foreign investments) passed state registration in August 2023.
Through a new registration method (passport ID number plus mobile phone number), 179 limited liability companies (LLCs) with local investments were registered in August.
The number of legal entities whose activities were activated (restored) increased by 52.6 percent in August 2023 compared to the corresponding month of 2022, and the number of VAT payers whose activities were activated increased by 44.9 percent.
In general, 1.4 million taxpayers were registered in Azerbaijan as of January 1, 2023.
