ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 14. Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting to discuss the acceleration of infrastructure development to meet the growing demand for freight transportation, Trend reports.
Considering the President's instructions and the increase in freight transportation volumes by rail (20.5 percent) and pipeline (19.5 percent), the Ministries of Transport and Finance, together with interested organizations, have been tasked with ensuring funding for priority projects impacting trade and transit flows within a week. The reduction of implementation timelines for key infrastructure projects was also discussed.
"Attention was given to the quality and timely implementation of agreements with neighboring countries on the modernization of border crossing points located on Kazakhstan's territory," the statement says.
Moreover, it was also emphasized that in order to ensure the domestic market’s supply of aviation fuel at affordable prices, a decision was made to accelerate the modernization of domestic oil refineries.
The Prime Minister stressed that the results of efforts to organize and enhance the efficiency of “green corridors” should be tangible for citizens and businesses. Relevant authorities were instructed to implement a mechanism for transit cargo without customs inspection. Work is underway to establish external Kazakhstan terminals.
Furthermore, First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar has been tasked with preparing a detailed action plan for implementing the instructions of Kassym-Jomart Tokayev within two days, followed by a visit to the regions to monitor the work on-site.
Today, under the chairmanship of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, a meeting of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held to discuss the development of the transport and logistics sector. Reports were heard from the Minister of Transport Marat Karabaev and several heads of central government agencies.
