There has been an annual tendency of a reduction in normative losses in electrical, heating and water supply networks in Kazakhstan, chairman of the Agency for Natural Monopoly Regulation Murat Ospanov said at an expanded board meeting today.
The amount saved from the reduction of normative losses in 2011 reached 1.6 billion tenge (over $10 million).
"This money was saved by consumers as a result of legislative norms used by the agency," the agency chairman said, adding that the amount saved from the reduction of normative losses in Kazakhstan in 2011 was about 441 million tenge (over $2.9 million).
Excessive tariffs are one of the problematic indices of the companies' activities as a result of inefficient exploitation, as well as theft.
"This year, the agency's priorities are to strengthen work to eliminate excess and optimise standard losses for water and electricity as well as introduce automated accounting systems," Mr Ospanov said.
