Georgia's foreign trade turnover for January-May 2013 (excluding the non-organized trade) amounted to $3.881 billion, the Georgian Statistics Agency told Trend on Monday.
Georgia's exports for the period amounted to $1.001 billion or 4 percent more than in the same period of last year.
Georgia's imports hit $2.88 billion in January-May or by 7 percent less than in the same period of last year.
Georgia's negative trade balance for the reporting period amounted to $1.878 billion, or 48 percent of the total foreign trade turnover.
According the Georgian Statistics Agency, the trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Georgia amounted to $508 million for five months in 2013.
Turkey is among Georgia's largest trade partners. The trade turnover with this country over the period amounted to $574 million, while $279 million with Ukraine.
Georgia's trade turnover with the EU countries declined by 12 percent to $1.001 million for January-May. The country's exports amounted to $161 million or 8 percent less than in the same period of last year, while imports amounted to $ 840 million or 13 percent less than in January-May 2012.
The EU's share in Georgia's foreign trade turnover amounted to 26 percent, including 16 percent in exports and 29 percent in imports.
