Potash salts reserves in Turkmenistan exceed 2 bln tons

The reserves of raw potash salts of Garlyk field located in Koytendag district of Lebap province in Turkmenistan, according to geological studies, account for more than two billion tons, the Turkmen "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper reported Jan.20.

A giant industrial center is formed in this area, where the creation of a new branch of the local economy, mining industry, was launched.

The article said that this project is a strategic direction of the bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and Belarus. The mining and processing plant for production of potassium fertilizers erected by "Belgorkhimprom" OJSC large specialized enterprise together with Turkmen constructors is designed to produce 1.400.000 tons per year.

In the future, this enterprise will annually export up to one million tons of potash fertilizer.

The "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper said that the construction of the object stretching over an area of ​​100 hectares is currently being accelerated. It is planned to annually produce and process more than seven million tons of ore for it to reach the design capacity.
