With financial support from the Bank of Georgia, a vineyard was planted in the village of Tkviavi in Gori city and a drip irrigation system was installed, Trend reports via Georgian media.
The company Alexander Venakh planted the indigenous variety of the red grapevine of Kartli - "Shavkapito" - 12.3 hectares on an area of 14.7 hectares.
In the future, the entrepreneur plans to produce both bottled and jug wines. In the first year of harvest, 50,000 bottles of wine will be bottled.
The company plans to export 90 percent of its wine, in particular to the EU market.
The total investment in the project is about 600,000 lari ($188,237). The financing allocated by the Bank of Georgia for the cultivation of the vineyard is 75,000 lari ($23,529.67). Some 15-20 people are involved in the daily work process.
In total, 50 new jobs were created within the project.
