The construction of a pipeline on water transportation from the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman to 7 provinces of Iran was launched today on March 14, Trend reports citing the IRNA.
The Iranian President Hassan Rouhani attended the event dedicated to the launch of the construction of the pipeline in online format.
A total of 1.28 quadrillion rials (about $30.4 billion) will be spent on the project.
In general, 550 million cubic meters of water will be transported annually from the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman to the Central Plateau of Iran through the construction of four pipelines.
The 3,700-kilometer pipeline will transport water to Hormozgan, Kerman, South Khorasan, Yazd, Isfahan, Sistan, and Baluchestan provinces of Iran. And about 70,000 people will be employed.
Water pipeline No. 1 transports water to the Hormozgan, Kerman, and Yazd provinces. The pipeline was put into operation several months ago. The total length of the pipeline is 820 km and consists of 3 parts. A total of 200 trillion rials (about $4.76 billion) has been spent on the water pipeline. At the same time, the second part of the pipeline, which transports water to the Sarcheshmeh city of Kerman Province (copper mine), and the third part, which transports water to the Ardakan County (Chadormalu mining complex) of Yazd Province, was also put into operation today.
The water pipeline line No. 2 will supply water to Kerman, South Khorasan, and Razavi Khorasan provinces. The length of this pipeline will be 1,550 kilometers. About 470 trillion rials (about $11.2 billion) will be spent on the water pipeline and 30,000 people will be employed. The pipeline is estimated to be put into operation until 2026.
The water pipeline line No. 3 will transport water to Yazd and Isfahan provinces. The length of this pipeline is 910 kilometers. A total of 350 trillion rials will be spent on the water pipeline and 14,000 people will be employed. The pipeline is estimated to be put into operation until 2026.
Water pipeline No. 4 will transport water from the Gulf of Oman to Sistan and Baluchestan Province. The length of this pipeline is 820 kilometers. In general, 390 trillion rials (about $9.28 billion) will be spent on the construction of the pipeline and 10,000 people will be employed. The pipeline is also expected to be launched until 2026.
