BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 21. Azerbaijan's Ateshgah insurance company is exploring the possibilities of insuring electric scooters, a source in the company told Trend on the sidelines of the Azerbaijan International Insurance Forum (AIIF-2024).
“In this regard, we visited this forum to ask our foreign colleagues how this is implemented in their countries. Discussions touched on issues of safety, the legal framework, and the economic efficiency of such programs. It's necessary to emphasize on this issue the importance of exchanging experience and introducing world best practices to create a reliable insurance system for electric scooters in Azerbaijan,” the source said.
To note, electric scooters have lately become a popular means of transportation in cities worldwide. They offer an environmentally friendly and convenient way to get around, especially in urban environments with high population density and intense traffic. However, alongside their growing popularity, the number of incidents involving electric scooters has increased, leading to heightened interest in their insurance.
Insurance for electric scooters can include several types of policies, such as theft insurance, damage coverage, and liability insurance in case of accidents involving third parties. Several countries are already implementing targeted insurance programs considering the specific operational aspects of electric scooters, including the risks associated with their use on public roads.
