With the improvement of research, Hur and Biyabanek potash mines increased their potassium deposits from 450 million cubic meters (mcm) to 2 billion cubic meters (bcm) of potassium with the improvement of research, Iran's Isfahan Province Hur and Biyabanek Kalium Mining and Industrial Complex Director Ali Alavi Naini said, Trend reports via Shata news agency.
He stated that, starting from March 21, 2018 the volume of potassium production in the current year for 9 months was 14,325 tons and increased by 57% compared with the same period last year.
Naini said that over 200,000 tons of potassium is used in the country every year while the bulk of this amount is provided through imports.
Due to the fact that Hur and Biyabanek potash plant in the first phase reaches 50,000 tons, 100,000 tons of products will be produced in the second phase.
In addition, with the introduction of other potash mines in the country, potassium needs of Iran will be satisfied internally and its export will be provided too.
“Potassium chloride in potassium processing plant is produced for use in agriculture, as well as in the petrochemical industry and pharmaceutical industry, with 95% purity," Naini said.
