ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 24. Since the beginning of the year, pension payments in Kazakhstan have increased by 8.5 percent, with the average pension now reaching 180,000 tenge (approx. $383), said Deputy Prime Minister Yermek Kosherbayev at a government press conference, Trend reports.
According to him, special attention is being paid to supporting vulnerable segments of the population. The total volume of pension expenditures has exceeded 4 trillion tenge (approx. $8.51 billion). A total of 245,000 Kazakh citizens are receiving targeted social assistance (TSA) amounting to 16.2 billion tenge (approx. $34.5 million).
"Today, the state is fully meeting its social obligations. More than half of the budget is allocated to this sector. Focusing on certain groups, for instance, in terms of support for families with children, benefits for 1.2 million families have been increased by 6.5 percent since the beginning of the year. For this, 870 billion tenge (approx. $1.85 billion) has been allocated from the republican budget, which is about 17 percent more compared to 2024," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
Starting from January 1, 2026, pensions and social payments in Kazakhstan will be indexed by 10 percent, which will not only offset inflation but also enhance support for the most vulnerable groups. Additionally, the growth in social spending will continue - over 622 billion tenge (approx. $1.32 billion) has already been allocated from the state budget for 2026.
