Azerbaijani Communications and Information Technologies Ministry completes work on the preparation of legislative and legal documents to introduce number portability service (MNP - Mobile Number Portability), the ministry told Trend on Thursday.
It is expected that the work carried out by the ministry in this direction will be completed within the next month, after which the operators have to address some technical issues to prepare the infrastructure for the use of this service.
Number Portability implies a full migration of phone numbers along with the selected operator prefix (050, 051, 055, 070 and 077). Introducing MNP service will allow subscribers in case of change of the operator to reserve their phone number, which frees them from notifying their relative and business partners about number change.
One of the main aspects is that this service should be launched by all three operators simultaneously.
