ASTANA, Kazakhstan, May 26. A ceremonial launch of direct flights from Shymkent, Kazakhstan, to destinations in Germany, Hungary, China, South Korea, and Egypt has taken place, Trend reports via the Civil Aviation Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
This initiative was carried out as part of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s directive to create conditions for expanding the cargo transportation capabilities of Kazakhstan’s airports and developing air hubs.
According to information, the flights will be operated using Boeing 737 aircraft.
Starting May 27:
Shymkent – Munich: twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays);
Shymkent – Budapest: twice a week (Tuesdays and Saturdays).
Starting May 29:
Shymkent – Shanghai: twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays);
Shymkent – Seoul: twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays);
Shymkent – Cairo: once a week (Thursdays), from June 24, twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays).
Starting July 2:
Shymkent – Xi’an: twice a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays).
Starting July 4:
Shymkent – Ürümqi: twice a week (Tuesdays and Fridays).
Representatives of Kazakhstan's aviation authorities and diplomatic missions from five countries took part in the event.
“The launch of these flights marks the beginning of a large-scale program to develop an international air hub based on Shymkent Airport’s new terminal,” noted Saltanat Tompieva, Chair of the Civil Aviation Committee.
The newly launched direct flights to Europe and Asia are expected to further develop Kazakhstan’s air route network, boost business activity and trade-economic ties in the region and nationwide. Additionally, expanding the flight geography will support inbound tourism and infrastructure development in the region.
Kazakhstan plans to open 32 new international air routes in 2025, with 15 cities becoming brand-new destinations for Kazakh travelers.
