BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 29. The majority of Kazakhstan’s money transfers made through international money transfer systems both in volume and value terms accounted for transfers abroad in September 2022, Trend reports on October 29 via the National Bank of Kazakhstan.

According to the bank, the share of such transfers in the total volume of transactions made up 93.5 percent with 230,000 transactions, and in the total value – 93.4 percent with 94 billion tenge ($200 million).

The bank noted that totally 240,000 transfers worth 100.6 billion tenge ($210 million) were made through international money transfer systems in September this year.

As many as 20,000 transactions (6.5 percent of the total volume) in the amount of 6.6 billion tenge or $14 million (6.6 percent of the total value) fell on transfers within Kazakhstan.

The remaining 160,000 transfers equaling 70.6 billion tenge ($150 million) accounted for transfers from other countries to Kazakhstan.

Besides, in September 2022, 5.4 million transfers worth 66.4 trillion tenge ($140 billion) were made via services of Kazakhstan National Bank's payment systems (interbank money transfer and interbank clearing systems).

This is 11.7 percent less in volume and 7.9 percent less in value compared to August 2022. On average, 246,100 transactions in the amount of three trillion tenge ($6.4 billion) were carried out daily.

As of October 1, 2022, plastic cards in Kazakhstan were issued by 18 banks and Kazpost JSC. Totally, 62.7 million payment cards were issued and put into circulation, and 50.6 percent of them (31.7 million cards) were used for non-cash transactions and (or) cash withdrawal transactions in September 2022.

The volume of transactions via plastic cards of Kazakh issuers amounted to 810.9 million transactions worth 11.1 trillion tenge ($24 billion) in the reporting month, which means an increase by 2.7 percent in volume and by 0.1 percent in value, compared to August 2022.

The share of non-cash payments made via cards of Kazakh issuers amounted to 97.5 percent (790.5 million transactions) of the total non-cash transactions carried out. The share of non-cash transactions value stood at 84.1 percent (9.3 trillion tenge or $20 billion).

As of October 1 this year, 19 payment systems, including payment systems of the National Bank, money transfer systems, and payment card systems operated in Kazakhstan.
