ASTANA, Kazakhstan, July 24. The development of Kazakhstan as a transit hub between China and Europe, particularly through the Middle Corridor, holds significant potential for enhancing cargo transportation to Europe, including Italy, Marco Beretta, President of the Italo-Kazakh Trade Association (ACIK), said in an exclusive interview with Trend.
"The development of Kazakhstan as a transit hub between China and Europe, particularly through the Middle Corridor, holds significant potential for enhancing cargo transportation to Europe, including Italy. This route can reduce transit times and costs, making trade more efficient. Italian companies are well-positioned to participate in the expansion of this route, bringing their expertise in logistics and infrastructure development to support Kazakhstan's efforts. The increased connectivity can facilitate trade and economic cooperation, benefiting both countries," he said.
According to him, Italian companies have a lot of international players in the cargo field who should certainly participate in the implementation of the project.
This will also stimulate joint trade relations with Kazakhstan and attract investment," Marco Beretta added.
The Middle Corridor is a transportation and trade route that connects Asia and Europe, passing through several countries in the region. It is an alternative route to the traditional Northern Corridor and Southern Corridor.
The route starts in China and crosses Central Asian countries such as Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. It then passes through the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye before reaching Europe.
The Middle Corridor offers a land route that connects the eastern parts of Asia, including China, with Europe, bypassing the longer maritime routes.
