BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, May 22. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) will continue to actively invest in energy projects in Kyrgyzstan in 2024, Nikolai Podguzov, Chairman of the Management Board of EDB said, Trend reports.

According to EDB, he made this announcement during a meeting with the Chairman of the Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, Akylbek Japarov.

"In 2024, the EDB will continue to focus on developing project activities in Kyrgyzstan within the framework of the mega-projects "Central Asian Water and Energy Complex" and "Eurasian Transport Network" in the fields of green energy, municipal services, industry, and digitalization," he said.

He added that the EDB intends to continue financing key projects, including the construction and operation project of the 100 MW Kulunak hydroelectric power plant (HPP), as well as the construction of a new modern clinker burning line for the Kant cement plant.

It is expected that the Kulunak HPP, which is part of the "Central Asian Water and Energy Complex" mega-project, will enhance the country's energy security and strengthen Kyrgyzstan's position in the electricity market in Central Asia.

To note, the EDB allocated $92 million for new investment projects in Kyrgyzstan in 2023, marking a record amount since the bank began its operations in the country.
