ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, December 19. Farmers of the Balkan region located in the west of Turkmenistan successfully completed the agricultural year, exceeding the plan for the delivery of raw cotton, Trend reports.

Farmers in the region harvested more than 16,000 tons of cotton, which is significantly more than the planned volume.

The largest volume of cotton was harvested in Bereket and Gyzylarbat districts of the Balkan region.

Furthermore, only the 'Batly gadam' private enterprise has harvested over 5,600 tons of cotton this season, which has become a good raw material base for the manufacturing of export-oriented textile products.

Meanwhile, the government of Turkmenistan has been actively supporting agriculture in recent years, including rice cultivation, in order to ensure food security and eliminate dependence on grain imports.

Turkmenistan has been investing in infrastructure development, modernization of equipment, and has been providing financial incentives for farmers and agricultural enterprises engaged in rice cultivation.
