TASHKENT, Uzbekistan, September 13. Volume of gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices in Uzbekistan amounted to 469.6 trillion Uzbek soums (approximately $38 billion), Trend reports.
As per data provided by Ministry of Finances of Uzbekistan, the growth rate of Uzbekistan’s GDP in the first half of 2023 amounted to 5.6 percent, while the forecast for the beginning of the year was 5.2 percent.
The main driver of economic growth is the service sector, with its growth rate being 6.4 percent compared to the same period last year. Economic growth is also recorded in industry sector (increase of 5.6 percent), construction (4.8 percent) and agriculture (3.8 percent).
For the first six months of 2023, consumer price index (CPI) amounted to 3.5 percent, (6.5 percent in 2022 and 4.4 percent in 2021).
Increase in prices is recorded in the following:
Food products - 4.1 percent
Services - 2.9 percent
Non-food products - 3.1 percent
- Medication - 6.5 percent
- Household detergents and cleaning products - 5.4 percent
- Cement - 4.6 percent
- Basic household goods and electrical appliances - 3.5 percent
- Methane and propane - 3.2 percent and 3 percent
- Gasoline – 3 percent
Income of the population in the first half of 2023 increased by 6.5 percent, and the total income per capita amounted to 9.3 million Uzbek soums ($767).
