Prime Minister Gordon Brown confirmed Wednesday that Britain will deploy an additional 700 troops in Afghanistan on a temporary basis in the run-up to Afghan elections, dpa reported.
Brown, who returned from a visit to Afghanistan and Pakistan early Wednesday, Britain's military presence in Afghanistan would return to the current level of 8,300 after the presidential elections in August.
