A New Zealand truck driver was charged Tuesday with causing the death of a teenage German tourist as she cycled on a state highway in January, dpa reported.
Mia Pusch, 19, who was on a backpacking holiday, wrote of the dangers truck drivers posed to cyclists on New Zealand roads in the last entry of her online blog before she was hit, news reports said.
"They swerve past the cyclists who are struggling under their own steam at break-neck speed mainly within only a half-metre to a metre gap, all the while aggressively honking their horn," she said.
A 66-year-old truck driver was charged with careless driving causing death and is to appear in court on May 5.
