Russian President arrives in Tajikistan

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev arrived Thursday on an official visit to Tajikistan, RIA Novosti reported.

Medvedev and Tajik President Emomali Rahmon are expected to discuss trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries. Several bilateral documents are scheduled to be signed as a result of Russian-Tajik talks.

On Friday Russian President will also take part in the quadripartite meeting with the Afghan President Hamid Karzai, the leader of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and the President of Tajikistan.

Russian president's bilateral contacts with his Afghan and Pakistani counterparts are scheduled on the sidelines of the summit.

On Saturday, September 3, Medvedev will take part in a regular meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which will also be held in Dushanbe.
