Babayeva/ The activities of Meneviyyat (Morality) public union will cover not only Baku and its suburbs, but also all the other regions of Azerbaijan as well, Eldaniz Guliyev, the initiator and one of the co-founders of Meneviyyat, the chairman of Union of Azerbaijani Intelligentsia said to Trend on 22 February.
According to Guliyev, the founders have decided to rename the Union as 'Maintenance of National Values of Azerbaijan'.
Meneviyyat, the new public union of Baku city and its suburbs was founded in January 2007.
The document was signed by 37 representatives of intelligentsia, religious figures of Baku and its suburbs, and Eldar Namazov, the head of For Azerbaijan Public Forum, Hajibaba Azimov, the former MP, Eldaniz Guliyev, the chairman of the Union of Azerbaijani Intelligentsia and Mais Gulaliyev, the chairman of Green Party of Azerbaijan.
According to Guliyev, an active work is being carried out in west and southern regions of the country and many people intend to join the Union in an individual order.
The Union will cooperate with NGOs after its official registration.
"In the first stage of our activities, we will not cooperate with the political parties of Azerbaijan," Guliyev said.
The Constituent Assembly of the Union will be held until Novruz Holidays in Azerbaijan.
