Kazakhstan, Belarus ink roadmap to deepen economic cooperation

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, November 14. The Roadmap between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Belarus on the development of trade and economic cooperation for 2025-2029 was signed by the Prime Ministers of the two countries, Trend reports.

This information became known during negotiations between the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektanov, and the Prime Minister of Belarus, Roman Golovchenko, which took place in the city of Minsk.

The discussions centered around industrial cooperation, agriculture, with a particular focus on deep processing of wheat, construction, transportation, the IT sector, and tourism. It was noted that the volume of mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Belarus in the first 8 months of this year amounted to $600 million.

On the Belarusian market, flour products from Kazakhstan are in demand (accounting for 10.2 percent of exports), among other goods. Positive dynamics were also observed in the field of freight transportation: over the first 9 months of this year, volumes increased by 19 percent, reaching 450.6 thousand tons.

The governments of Kazakhstan and Belarus are working together to develop industrial cooperation. In total, there are 14 projects worth $277.5 million, with the creation of 1,800 jobs. Of these, Kazakhstan's regions have already launched 11 joint ventures with investments exceeding $200 million, creating 1,600 jobs.

Following the negotiations, Kazakh Tourism and the National Tourism Agency of the Republic of Belarus signed agreements on cooperation.

Since 2021, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Belarus has exceeded $1 billion. This is a record figure for recent years, as in 2014, trade turnover between the two countries was $835.1 million, and the following year it dropped by half to $403.4 million in 2015. Since then, the turnover has been steadily increasing at a noticeable pace.
