Kazakhstan Railways marks record grain transportation volume

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 3. In November, more than 1.4 million tons of new crop grain were loaded onto the network of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (Kazakhstan Railways), a volume that has been recorded for the first time and represents a record monthly grain transportation volume, Trend reports.

According to the most recent statistics provided by Kazakhstan Railways, the country exported over one million tons of grain and internally transported 350,000 tons.

For the current marketing year (from September through November), grain transportation amounted to 3.7 million tons, a 45 percent increase compared to last year.

"The export of new crop grain amounted to 2.9 million tons, which is 51 percent more than last year. The main export destinations show positive dynamics: shipments to Central Asia grew by 35 percent, and deliveries to Afghanistan increased by 58 percent. Shipments to Iran grew to 356,000 tons compared to 14,000 tons last year. According to the receiving party's capacity, the company shipped 445,000 tons to China.

KTZ also stressed that it guarantees smooth grain exports to Russia and emerging markets like Azerbaijan, having shipped 104,000 tons in just two months.

The company also reported that government tasks related to the release of elevators through the relocation of grain within the country are being fully implemented, with 793,000 tons transported in three months, showing a 29 percent growth.

Earlier, the Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan, Marat Karabaev, reported at a government meeting that the volume of freight transportation in Kazakhstan increased by 3.5 percent over 10 months, reaching 263.4 million tons.
