ASTANA, Kazakhstan, January 6. Kazakhstan has increased grain exports to Iran through the port of Aktau more than 30 times, from 14,000 tons to 435,000 tons, Trend reports, citing Kazakhstan Railways.
Kazakhstan exported 3.7 million tons of wheat from the latest crop of wheat from September through December 25, 2024, a 54 percent increase over the 2.4 million tons exported during the same time in 2023.
It was highlighted that exports to Uzbekistan grew by 44 percent (from 994,000 tons to 1.427 million tons), to Tajikistan by 53 percent (from 385,000 tons to 589,000 tons), to Afghanistan by 52 percent (from 120,000 tons to 182,000 tons), and to Kyrgyzstan by 22 percent (from 59,000 tons to 72,000 tons).
To note, in the first 11 months of 2024, Kazakhstan's rail network transported 9.2 million tons of grain, with 2.2 million tons moved within the country and 7 million tons for export.
