ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 7. Vice Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sungat Yessimkhanov, participated in the Ministerial Meeting dedicated to the development of the "Green Energy Corridor" and the Southern Gas Corridor, which took place in Baku, Azerbaijan, Trend reports.

In his speech, Yessimkhanov emphasized the importance of this forum in strengthening Kazakhstan's position in international energy.

"The development of the Southern Gas Corridor is a key direction for ensuring stable energy resource supplies in the region and beyond. Kazakhstan, with its significant natural gas reserves, is actively working on expanding its infrastructure to enter new export markets," said Sungat Yessimkhanov.

According to the vice minister, in 2024, Kazakhstan's gas production volume amounted to 59 billion cubic meters, and by 2030, the country plans to increase this figure to 68 billion cubic meters per year.

"Our goal is to increase gas production to 68 billion cubic meters per year by 2030, and for this, we are focusing on strategically important projects such as the Kashagan and Karachaganak fields," he added.

One of Kazakhstan's key areas of work is the development of environmentally sustainable technologies.

"We actively support initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions, such as associated gas utilization and the production of 'green' hydrogen. This is an important step in the transition to a low-carbon economy," said the vice minister.

In the course of his visit, the vice minister held meetings with European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson and Senior Advisor to the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Energy Resources Eric Jacobson.

"We discussed with our partners cross-border investments and sustainable development issues. Kazakhstan is ready to continue cooperation in these areas, strengthening its position as a reliable energy partner," emphasized Sungat Yessimkhanov.

In conclusion, the vice minister confirmed Kazakhstan's commitment to deepening regional and international energy cooperation and developing diversified and environmentally safe energy supply routes, including components of "green" energy.
