ASTANA, Kazakhstan, April 10. The manufacturing sector's output has grown by 8.7 percent since the beginning of the year, announced Minister of Industry and Construction Yersaiyn Nagaspayev during a working meeting chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, focusing on the country's economic development, Trend reports.
Minister Nagaspayev provided an update on the efforts to implement the country president’s directives aimed at sustaining growth trends and boosting production levels.
He noted that the manufacturing industry has shown a steady positive performance from January through March, with a growth rate of 8.7 percent.
“The main growth has been driven by increases in mechanical engineering (17.7 percent), food production (13.2 percent), and fabricated metal products, excluding machinery and equipment (28.7 percent). Additionally, the mining sector has seen a 6.1 percent increase,” Nagaspayev said.
The minister also pointed out that the construction sector hit the ground running with a remarkable growth rate of 16.9 percent for the quarter. He reported a rise in the volume of work related to the construction of schools, roads, railways, and engineering infrastructure.
In response, the prime minister promulgated a series of strategic directives aimed at enhancing synergies with local manufacturers, especially within the framework of the National Initiative for the modernization of the energy and utilities sectors.
According to preliminary data from the National Statistics Bureau of the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of Kazakhstan, the country's GDP grew by 5.8 percent from January through March compared to the same period last year. The index of physical volume for the transport sector is 21 percent, for construction is 16.9 percent, for industry is 6.6 percent, and for trade is 6.3 percent.
