Grain futures on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) were up Tuesday on fears of South American aridity and position-squaring, Xinhua reported.
Corn futures for March delivery ended up 2.75 cents to 3.9625 dollars a bushel. March soybean climbed 7.5 cents to 9.53 dollars per bushel and March wheat gained 12.75 cents to 6.0475 dollars per bushel.
Investors opted to square positions at year's end in order to avoid risks, analysts said.
Drier weather conditions in Argentina and Brazil would inhibit corn and soybean crops, supportive to their futures in the CBOT.
Saudi Arabia reportedly announced plans to tender for 500,000 tons of hard wheat, which would be helpful to U.S. wheat exports. The news of potential export contributed to wheat's gains on Tuesday.
