A report on the current work being carried out in accordance with the agreement on the construction of the Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi high-speed highway was made at a government meeting in Turkmenistan’s Ashgabat city, Neutral Turkmenistan reported.
The appropriate measures are being taken for the practical implementation of this project having regional importance. President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of timely and high-quality construction work on the highway.
The new high-speed Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi highway will stretch from the 24th kilometer of the Ashgabat-Dashoguz highway, said a message posted on the website of Turkmenawtoyollary state concern.
The highway will stretch from Derweze district of the Ahal region to Turkmenbashi city. The total length of the two lane highway is 564 kilometers. The width of each side is 15 meters.
Nine checkpoints, 9 service stations and 7 filling stations, as well as 3 roadside hotels, parking for 20 cars, public catering sites are planned to be built along the highway.
Moreover, 217 reinforced concrete bridges are planned to be built on the highway. Many highways have been recently reconstructed in Turkmenistan. New high-speed roads with the necessary road infrastructure have been built. The total length of the roads is about 1,700 kilometers. Presently, the Turkmenbashi-Farab and Ashgabat-Dashoguz highways are being built.
Along with the construction of new highways connecting different regions of the country, high-speed highways that meet international standards are also being constructed.
The new highways are planned to be built in three stages. The first stage includes the Ashgabat – Turkmenbashi highway, the second stage – the Ashgabat - Farab highway and the third stage - the Ashgabat – Dashoguz highway.
Foreign companies with relevant experience are expected to be attracted to successfully construct high-speed highways.
An important task for Turkmenistan is to lay the foundation for the architecture of the new geo-economic area that unites Central Asia, the Caspian region, the regions of the Black Sea and Baltic Sea, the Middle East, South Asia and South-East Asia.
