Ukrainian company Ukravit, Swiss Montblanc Commodities AG and Uzbek Samarador plan to open a factory in Uzbekistan to manufacture chemicals for protection of plants against pests, Uzbek media reported referring to Uzkhimprom.
Foreign investors intend to invest at least $5 million in the project. The project will be implemented on the basis of unused FerganaAzot objects with a total area of 6.5 hectares, including workshops, facilities and adjacent territories.
These objects will be transferred to investors at a ‘zero’ redemption value with adoption of certain investment and social obligations.
The factory with the capacity of 5,000 tons of products per year is planned to be launched in 4Q2021. Foreign investors will use modern technologies and equipment, will create a research laboratory for development of new types of plant protection products taking into account the soil and climatic conditions of the agricultural zones in the republic.
Currently, there are 72 Uzbek-Ukrainian enterprises in Uzbekistan, including five enterprises with fully Ukrainian capital. In 1H2018, trade between Uzbekistan and Ukraine increased by 60 percent and amounted to $206 million.
Switzerland is one of the leading trade and economic partners of Uzbekistan in Europe. There are 84 companies operating in Uzbekistan with participation of Swiss capital. By the end of 2017, bilateral trade amounted to $154.5 million.
