The imports of Iran from neighboring countries increased by 67 percent in terms of value and 50 percent in terms of volume, during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.
According to Latifi, Iran imported 11.1 million tons of goods worth about $11.4 billion from neighboring countries in 6 months.
Latifi added that Iran’s imports from neighboring countries for the reporting period accounted for 48 percent of Iran’s total imports in terms of value and 58 percent in terms of volume.
“Over six months, Iran imported $7.3 billion worth of goods from the UAE, $2.43 billion worth from Turkey, $639 million worth from Russia, $499 million worth from Iraq, and $270 million worth from Oman,” he said.
The spokesman also noted that Iran imported goods from Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and other countries.
The official stressed that Iran's total trade turnover with neighboring countries for six months amounted to 47 million tons worth about $22.6 billion. This is an increase of 52 percent in terms of value and 37 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
As reported, Iran exported 60 million tons of goods worth $21.8 billion during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through September 22, 2021).
Iran's exports increased by 61 percent in terms of value and 30 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
In addition, Iran imported 19.1 million tons of goods worth $23.1 billion within the mentioned period. Iran's imports increased by 37 percent in terms of value and 15 percent in terms of value, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
