Russia can participate in the transport corridor TRACECA as a participant or an observer. However, this country has not appealed to the intergovernmental secretariat with request to participate in the transport corridor РєРѕСЂРёРґРѕСЂРµ, Akif Mustafayev, the National Secretary of TRACECA, told Trend.
Alexander Chernogorov, a governor of the Stavropol Province of Russia, stated to the Russian-Azerbaijani economic forum that drop in the grains transportation tariffs from the region to Azerbaijan might promote Russias entrance to TRACECA. It will in particular promote 35%-cut in expenses.
Meanwhile, he noted that owing to poor transport infrastructure the transportation expenses now comprise $22 per ton.
