Electricity generation in Kazakhstan up

Electricity generation reached 54.8 billion kilowatt hours in Kazakhstan in January-June 2018, which is 7.4 percent more than in the same period of 2017, EnergyProm said.

Traditionally, the bulk of energy generation accounted for industrial Pavlodar region (42.9 percent) and Karaganda region (12.7 percent).

At the same time, 82 percent of the output accounted for thermal power plants in the reporting period of 2018 compared to 79 percent in 2017.

According to Kazakhstan’s Operator of Electric Power and Electric Energy, electricity generation amounted to 54.7 billion kilowatt-hours for January-June 2018, which is 7.6 percent more than in January-June 2017.

Thus, 81.5 percent of all electricity generated in Kazakhstan accounted for thermal power plants in January-June 2018 compared to 79.4 percent in the same period of 2017, 8.4 percent - gas turbine power plants (8.2 percent in 2017), 9.7 percent – hydroelectric power stations (12 percent in 2017), 0.4 percent - wind power plants (0.3 percent in 2017) and 0.1 percent - solar power plants as a year ago.

Kazakhstan fully provides itself with electricity. Moreover, the export of electricity has greatly increased by 87.4 percent.
