As many as 211 villages in Iran are supplied with electricity on February 7, 2022, Trend reports citing Iranian Energy Ministry.
According to the report, a total of 2 trillion rials (about $47.6 million) has been spent on the electricity supply to the villages.
In addition, 10,630 nomadic families have been provided with portable solar panels. One trillion rials (about $23.8 million) have been spent in this regard.
At the same time, 17 trillion rials (about $405 million) have been spent on upgrading the electricity network in 4,500 villages (renewal of old power lines, lighting rural roads, etc.).
About 85 percent of the world's rural population is supplied with electricity. The figure is 99.7 percent in Iran. The reason some villages in Iran have not supplied electricity yet, the population is less than 10 families.
In general, 57,966 villages in Iran have already been supplied with electricity.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Iranian Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian and other officials attended the event dedicated to the supply of electricity to the villages.
