BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 28. In August 2024, the STAR Refinery, owned by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in Türkiye, reduced its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) production, outputting 11,250 tons compared to 16,394 tons in the same month of 2023, Trend reports.
According to the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK), this represents a 31.4 percent year-on-year decline in LPG production.
The STAR oil refinery received around 514,250 tons of crude oil in August 2024, a 44 percent decline compared to 918,225 tons supplied during the same period in 2023.
The STAR Refinery, which came online in October 2018, was built with a total investment of $6.3 billion, with $3.3 billion of that amount financed through loans. The facility has an annual refining capacity of around 10 million tons and can process up to 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
