The refinery recorded its lowest monthly output in September (2,311 tons), reflecting a 79.5% decline from August. After a relatively stable first quarter, production dropped significantly between May and September. Following the peak in November, production in December (27,194 tons) saw a 71.6% decline, but remained higher than most mid-year months.
SOCAR’s Star Refinery experienced high volatility in LPG production in 2024, with extreme highs and lows. While July and November saw record-breaking outputs, mid-year and September registered significant declines.
STAR Refinery commenced operations on October 19, 2018. It ensures the integration of refining and petrochemicals and represents the largest single-location real sector investment in Türkiye.
Since late 2024, the refinery's crude oil processing capacity has reached 13 million tons per year. In 2023, the utilization rate of production capacity stood at 117.1 percent. STAR Refinery produces various petroleum products, including diesel, naphtha, aviation fuel, and LPG, meeting approximately 18 percent of Türkiye’s demand for refined petroleum products in 2023. The refinery’s annual naphtha production almost fully meets Petkim’s raw material needs.
