BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 8. Azerbaijan's payment card activity via ATMs and POS-terminals totaled 5.299 billion manat, or $3.1 billion as of February 1, 2023 (against 3.468 billion manat or $2.04 billion, in the same period of 2022), Trend reports citing the Central Bank of Azerbaijan.
According to the bank, this figure increased by 1.8 billion manat ($1.06 billion), or 52.8 percent year over year.
The total number of payment card transactions amounted to 70.609 million (growth of 84.55 percent), out of which 4.98 million transactions worth 251 million manat ($147.47 million) were carried out abroad.
As many as 59.81 million debit card transactions worth 4.89 billion manat ($2.87 billion) have been conducted both within the country and abroad. Out of the total number, 10.208 million transactions worth 2.205 billion manat ($1.29 billion) were carried out through ATMs within the country, whereas 19.9 million worth 581 million manat ($341.3 million) – through POS terminals.
Bank customers executed 8.037 million transactions for a total of 408 million manat ($239.68 million) via credit cards (both within the country and abroad).
In the meantime, 446,000 transactions worth 83 million manat ($48.7 million) were carried out through ATMs, while 4.239 million transactions worth 148 million manat ($86.9 million) – through POS terminals.
As of February 1, 2023, the number of payment cards in Azerbaijan increased by 2.2 million or 19.67 percent and reached 13.488 million (against 11.27 million a year earlier).
