DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, June 10. Over the past eight years, the average economic growth rate of Tajikistan has stood at 7.4 percent, President Emomali Rahmon said during a meeting of the National Development Council, Trend reports.
He further emphasized that international financial institutions have recognized Tajikistan for its annual economic growth rates, classifying it as a rapidly growing economy.
Rahmon highlighted that during this period, the GDP volume increased by 2.6 times, the GDP per capita by 2.3 times, the monetary incomes of the population by 4.4 times, average wages by over 2 times, the final pension size by 1.9 times, and the number of entrepreneurs by 1.6 times.
Moreover, the president underscored that the poverty rate has decreased from 31.3 percent in 2015 to 21.2 percent in 2023. According to the World Bank's assessment, Tajikistan is among the top 10 countries globally in terms of reducing poverty rates.
Rahmon also stated that Tajikistan has made significant strides in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, with overall progress reaching 70 percent of these goals and some indicators exceeding 90 percent.
According to the country's Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, Tajikistan's GDP reached 130.8 billion somoni ($11 billion) in 2023, with a growth rate of 8.3 percent.
