DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 14. A new stone processing plant, owned by Pamir Stone LLC, has officially opened in the city of Khorog in Tajikistan, Trend reports.

The plant was inaugurated by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon during a visit to the Gorno-Badakhshan autonomous region, according to the head of state's press service.

The facility was built with internal investments totaling 7 million somoni ($657,225) and employed over 50 workers during the construction phase. It will process granite sourced from the mountains of Badakhshan.

To facilitate stone processing, the plant has installed the necessary technology imported from China. The facility is designed to produce 20,000 square meters of stone products annually.

Currently, the plant provides employment for over 30 individuals, with plans to increase the workforce to 100 in the near future.

Raw materials for the plant will be sourced from domestic resources, contributing to the promotion of locally produced goods, the training of specialists, and the enhancement of their professional skills.

In light of rising interest in stone products for various construction needs, the government of Tajikistan is supporting the expansion of such enterprises. This marks the third stone processing plant in the region, bringing the total number of similar facilities in the country to 16.
