DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 31. A total of 800 mineral deposits have been discovered and partially prepared for development in Tajikistan, Sherali Kabir, the Minister of Industry and New Technologies, said in an interview with local media, Trend reports.
"The mining industry in Tajikistan has a strong mineral resource base, with volumes sufficient to ensure the sector's long-term development. This factor creates a solid foundation for the growth of the mining industry. In the country, 800 mineral deposits have been identified and partially prepared for exploitation, including rare and precious metals such as copper, silver, gold, lead, lithium, antimony, nickel, tungsten, vanadium, and other rare minerals. Currently, more than 40 types of ore are being extracted from operational mines," the minister said.
Kabir also noted that the country possesses reserves of all critical metals and materials needed for the "green" energy transition, such as copper, manganese, aluminum, zinc, lithium, graphene, palladium, nickel, platinum, and rare earth metals.
To note, on October 29, the first International Investment Forum and Exhibition for Tajikistan's mining and metallurgical industry commenced in Dushanbe, running until October 30. The forum is expected to lead to the signing of partnership memoranda for cooperation and project implementation, aimed at attracting direct investments into Tajikistan's mining sector.
