BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 13. In April 2026, Georgia’s annual inflation rate reached 5.9%, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising 1.7% month-on-month
Data obtained by Trend from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) shows that annual core inflation stood at 3.5%, while core inflation excluding tobacco products was 3.2%.
The main contributors to annual inflation were price increases in the food and non-alcoholic beverages sector (up 7.5%) and the transport sector (up 10.3%). Within transport, costs for operating personal vehicles surged 15.1% over the year, while transport services rose 9.2%.
Meanwhile, housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuel prices increased by 6.5% annually, largely driven by a 10.2% rise in utility costs.
