DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, February 10. The total assets of credit financial institutions in Tajikistan amounted to 47.4 billion somoni ($4.3 billion) as of December 31, 2024, Trend reports.
According to the National Bank of Tajikistan, the figure increased by 26 percent compared to the same period in 2023, primarily driven by a growth in the credit portfolio balance, investments, and cash reserves.
The total balance of the credit portfolio of credit financial institutions for the reporting period stood at 21.3 billion somoni ($1.9 billion), which is a 19.8 percent increase compared to the same period in 2023. This growth was mainly due to a rise in loans issued to individuals and the small and medium-sized enterprise sector.
As many as 65 credit and financial institutions were operating in Tajikistan as of December 31, 2024, including 15 conventional banks, 1 Islamic bank, 1 non-bank credit organization, 22 microfinance deposit organizations, 3 microcredit organizations, and 23 microcredit funds.
