DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, April 22. The foreign trade turnover of Tajikistan’s Sughd region reached $920.4 million in January–March 2025, showing a 27 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024, Trend reports via the administration of the Sughd region.
Imports amounted to $621.9 million, up by $93.7 million from the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, exports totaled $298.5 million, which is an increase of $102.5 million, or 52.3 percent, year-on-year.
To note, Tajikistan's overall foreign trade reached $2.398 billion in the first quarter of 2025, a 9.5 percent rise from Q1 2024, according to the Customs Service under the Government of Tajikistan.
There was a notable escalation in imports, which experienced a robust increase of 21 percent, reaching a total of $1.89 billion. Conversely, exports encountered a significant contraction, plummeting by 19.4 percent to a figure of $501 million.
Consequently, the nation's trade imbalance expanded markedly, escalating to $1.36 billion in the initial quarter of 2025, juxtaposed with $928 million in the corresponding timeframe of the previous year.
