BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 1. The Shahid Salimi Neka Thermal Power Plant (TPP) in Iran’s northern Mazandaran Province raised electricity production by 12.3 percent during the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2024 through March 20, 2025) compared to the previous year (from March 21, 2023 through March 19, 2024), the CEO of Neka Power Generation Management Company Noorollah Adabi told reporters, Trend reports.
The official noted that the electricity production at the plant during the reporting year reached 9.41 billion kilowatts, of which 75 percent accounted for steam units, while 25 percent - other units.
Adabi mentioned that last year, the energy commitment at Shahid Salim Neka TPP was fulfilled by 101 percent. Despite that 45 years have passed since the start of operation of the plant's steam units, repair work is being carried out on time, and certain production operations are being carried out.
The Shahid Salimi (Neka) TPP has four steam units, each with a capacity of 440 megawatts (MW). It also has two gas units, each with a capacity of 137.6 MW. Moreover, it has one gas-steam (combined cycle) unit with a capacity of 160 megawatts and two expansion turbines with a capacity of 9.4 megawatts each.
The TPP can generate a total of 2,214 MW of electricity and accounts for more than four percent of Iran’s electricity generation.
