Tabriz-based Human Rights Student Movement reported to Trend that Farhad Mohsuni died from tortures in the Iran Security Service (Ettelaat). People were prohibited from participation in the funeral ceremony of the national activist who is from Tabriz, and his family was warned not to connect with foreign news agencies.
"The activist was buried under the control of security service without participation of unauthorized persons," Movahedi reported from Tabriz on 13 June.
"Tens Iranian citizens of Turkic origin are kept in prisons due to their national activities and we do not know where, how and in what conditions they are kept," he said.
According to Movahedi, the number of arrested national activists has not yet been specified. Iranian Government cruelly treats arrested national activists.
Amnesty International reported that beginning from May, tens Iranian citizens of Turkic origin (Azerbaijanis) were arrested and many of them underwent hard tortures.
According to unofficial statistics, 35mln Iranian citizens of Turkic origin (Azerbaijanis) reside in Iran. They are deprived of opportunity to study in their native language and are seeking enjoying national and cultural rights.
