Georgia, Tbilisi, Jan. 23 / Trend , N.Kirtskhalia/
The village of Saberio, where the control panel of
the Inguri hydroelectric power station is located, has been blocked inside the
occupied area, Georgian MP Paata Davitaia said at a news briefing on Jan. 23.
Moreover, filtering areas are being created in Abkhazia, thereby forcing the
Georgian population to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and to receive
local passports.
Yesterday's visit of Bagapsh [president of the unrecognized Republic of Abkhazia] to Gali is part of this great game controlled by Russia. Its purpose is to block Saberio, the point where the Inguri control panel is placed,
and to separate Abkhazian population from the rest of Georgia, Davitaia said.
As a result of the setup of a new outpost in Saberio, the Georgian power
engineering specialists have been taken hostages, he said.
Davitaia touched upon Shamba's statements [Foreign Minister of the unrecognized
Republic of Abkhazia] on his willingness to negotiate with Georgia on the Inguri hydroelectric power station. "It is also part of the Russian game,
which aims to fix Abkhazia as a party," the MP said.
"These issues must be highlighted at international organizations in order to
avoid undesirable results for us," said Davitaia.
