BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 5. TotalEnergies reported a significant increase in its integrated power production in the third quarter of 2024, reaching 11.1 terawatt-hours (TWh), Trend reports.
According to the company's latest financial report, this represents a 23-percent jump compared to the previous quarter, mainly attributed to increased production from flexible gas assets in the US and the recent acquisition of the West Burton gas-fired power plant in the UK.
The company’s renewable energy segment also performed steadily, contributing 6.7 TWh to the total production, though this marked a slight 1-percent decline from the second quarter. Power from flexible gas capacities rose sharply to 4.4 TWh, showing a remarkable 96-percent increase quarter-on-quarter.
TotalEnergies expanded its renewable power generation portfolio, with net installed capacity reaching 21.6 gigawatts (GW) by the end of 3Q, a 36-percent rise compared to the same period last year.
Of this capacity, 14.5 GW came from renewable sources such as solar and wind, up 25 percent year-on-year, while gas flexible capacities reached 7.1 GW, up 67 percent year-on-year.
