ASTANA, Kazakhstan, December 7. A full-cycle industrial battery manufacturing plant has been inaugurated in the Zhetisu region of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Trend reports.
The plant will become a key facility for producing high-tech batteries used in the oil and gas, mining, energy, and telecommunications sectors, as well as in green energy. The project cost was approximately $17 million, with the plant's capacity set at 210,000 batteries per year. The products will be distributed between the domestic market (40 percent) and export (60 percent). Once fully operational, the plant will create 180 jobs.
In his welcome speech at the opening ceremony, Zhetisu Region Akim (Governor) Beibit Isabaev noted that the new plant, Asma Industrial, which has no analogs in Kazakhstan, will produce full-cycle industrial batteries widely used in various industries. The implementation of this investment project is an important event for the region. On our part, we have provided all necessary state support. Engineering networks worth approximately $520,000 were laid with local budget funds.

To note, the Zhetisu region is home to 549 industrial enterprises, including 14 large and 13 medium-sized enterprises, employing over 30,000 people. Over the first 10 months of 2024, industrial production in the region grew by 3.9 percent, reaching a total value of approximately $558 million.
